At the heart of sustainability lies the question of what type of leadership and organizations are necessary to foster sustainability? One answer may be found in the essence of the world’s spiritual and religious traditions – to serve others through love. Spiritual leadership is a model based on hope/faith in a vision of service to key stakeholders through altruistic love. The organizations they lead have as their mission the maximization of employee well-being and sustainability as well as financial performance or, in other words, the triple bottom line (e.g., people, planet, and profit).
